Never found a job for Ruby, so I'm done playing with this technology — especially since .net apparently has its own MVC. That's the direction I'll grow in.
Tried writing web applications. It's really easy and quick to get a working mvp, but nothing ever made it past home hosting.
Ruby is a new interpreted, high-level, dynamically typed language with a strong bias towards readability and expressiveness. It has a slight whiff of JavaScript about it. Psychological trauma keeps me from trusting the language.
Ruby with Rails introduced me to the Model View Controller concept, which is good motivation to quickly pick up this simple language. By this point I'd gotten pretty seasoned with PHP sites, so I easily become a neophyte of ruby and mvc. But I can't find any use for it at work. Just tinkering with friends on my own.
There are two key problems in finding a practical application: finding a hosting provider, and selling someone on the idea that they absolutely need their site built in ruby.
