Rider

Using

I switched to a macbook, and that became the main motivation for using Rider full-time in everyday work.

As for meaningful differences: in Rider it's noticeably more intuitive to see what's going on inside the .NET machinery and what's happening with memory. The rest of the differences with Visual Studio I'd file under personal taste.

Assessing

Rider is an IDE for the .NET platform, made by JetBrains. It combines the power of ReSharper with the flexibility of the IntelliJ Platform, making work on .NET projects a pleasure.

I use it occasionally for particular tasks, or when I want to study compiler behavior and look at the IL code.

I switched to a macbook, which became the main motivation to use Rider constantly in my day-to-day work.
