Kubernetes

Dropped

The dress rehearsal went well, but the premiere is cancelled: it became obvious that for political and economic reasons we won't be deploying an on-prem cluster. We carry on living on Docker — for our loads, that's enough.

The knowledge from the course and the test cluster stays in the piggy bank, but Kubernetes is leaving my active toolkit.

Finally got around to hands-on practice: we spun up a test cluster in Yandex Cloud (Managed Kubernetes) — a dress rehearsal for deploying our own on-prem Kubernetes. We're breaking in manifests, deploying our services and working with ingress, so that by the time our own hardware arrives we show up with trained hands.

Finished a Kubernetes administration course. Preparing for the project to split our MES monolith into microservices. With all the prep going on there's no time for Kube yet — we're starting development on our own Docker hosts plus one shared one.
